Saved Up & Well Traveled PT.2
We are back with part 2 of 'Saved Up & Well Traveled' and this time I have four avid male travelers sharing ways they save to travel. "How do you afford to travel so much" is the most infamous question Travel Bloggers get so I decided to start a series to share different ways different bloggers save up to travel the world so you can do it too!
Feel free to show these travel kings some love and follow them on Instagram! They have a wealth of travel information that they share on their page and amazing travel photos to inspire you to book your next flight!
Technically I don’t save but I do have multiple bank accounts.
Before Covid-19 one bank account was for bills and one bank account was for travel.
The travel bank account was funded by Uber/Lyft every week so I would make sure every week I was making 200-300 dollars extra to put in there.
Also, I swipe my credit cards that give me points and miles. Debt is debt 🤷🏻♂️ as long as the experience I had traveling out weighs the stress I'll get from the debt I’m satisfied!
During the pandemic everything kind of meshed together as far as my finances so I just pull from where I see wiggle room and do what I have to do.
I also have an Acorns account in which I save in. But usually I withdraw to pay the credit card I used on a trip.
I feel like I’m like a yolo traveler. I worry about the consequences later. You can’t take money to the grave. So just go!
I work 3 Jobs as a way to travel, all in the the addictions and mental health field. I also have two business on the side that I run, a mascot/photobooth company and a jewelry company as well.
I book my trips really far ahead like I booked Jordan Israel in 2019 for 2021. The small trips are sporadic. The big ones are thought out and researched. I work 3 Jobs as a way to travel on a regular basis, all in the addictions and mental health field.
I would also recommend selling old items in your home that you no longer use and are storing in your storage. Travelling is great as a way to cope with daily life as well and learning experiences, I do all I can to make sure I'm seeing the world all while discovering new cultures and spending quality time with myself in the process.
Here are some ways to make side money to be able to travel:
Drive for Uber or Lyft
Deliver for PostMates
Rent your spare room on Airbnb
Sell services on Fiverr
Write an ebook
One of the ways I save money to travel is when I get paid I put the money sinto a tax free savings account. With that I put my money into an index fund (Canadian) that's based on the top companies on the S&P 500.
So, while I’m saving my money It's also gaining interest at the same time so when im ready to travel I come out with more money than I started. Its beneficial for me because I have the flexibility to withdraw my savings at any time and for any purpose I choose and I choose TRAVEL
Here are a few types of savings accounts that offer tax advantages to help grow your money.

I use Bonus checks from work and I have side hustles. One of my favorite things to use are voucher codes, sometimes you can google voucher codes and it will give you discount codes for hotel stays . For example if you want to stay at MGM you can google MGM voucher code. It will usually say enter voucher code or membership # at check out enter the number and it can save you 10-25 percent.
Shopping around is a must and always compare different search engines like Google Flights, Priceline, Expedia and Kayak to get best price.
We use Airbnb for most trips and we always hire a chef because it comes out to be cheaper than going to a restaurant for every meal.
Here are some websites to use to search for promotional codes:
I think it's clear that there are so many different ways to afford to travel from getting a side job to browsing for promotional codes to lower your travel costs!
